How to summarise your own PDF book and check the result

A useful summary helps you return to a book’s arguments, not just finish reading faster. Start with a suitable file, choose the language deliberately and keep the original nearby to check important claims. Konspekto’s current candidate is a free closed beta by invitation, not an open registration service.

1. Prepare your PDF

Use a book you are entitled to upload and process. Open your PDF, select a paragraph and paste it into a text editor. If you get readable words in the right order, the file is a better candidate than a scan. Try a page in the middle too: a selectable title page does not prove the whole book has usable text.

The upload limit is 100 MiB (104,857,600 bytes). The file must also pass the application’s checks. A selectable text layer is not a guarantee of acceptance: broken extraction, empty text or other file problems can still prevent processing. This beta does not provide OCR for scans. Do not rely on password-protected files being accepted or try to bypass a restriction on a book you do not have permission to use.

2. Sign in before uploading

Open the beta app. Read the privacy information on the sign-in page before submitting an email address or a file. If it is missing or unclear, ask support before proceeding.

Access requires an invited email address. Requesting a link does not create an invitation; an address outside the list will not receive the login email. If you lack access, contact support@konspek.to to ask about availability. This is not an automatic waiting list or a promise of an invitation. After signing in, use the upload screen to select or drop your PDF. The sample excerpt on the public landing page is not an upload control.

3. Separate the three languages

The source language is the language of the book; the app detects it during analysis. The interface language controls menus and explanations. The summary language controls the generated result and must be selected on the book screen.

For example, an English book can have a Russian summary while you use the Spanish interface. The current candidate offers English, Russian and Spanish as summary choices. Before confirming, check the selected result language again. Switching interface language does not translate an existing summary or mean that a new version has been ordered.

4. Review the analysis and confirm only when ready

Wait for analysis to finish. Check the detected language and the list or count of chapters or parts against your edition. A processing “part” may not be one of the author’s chapters; do not infer complete coverage from a count alone.

The app then shows the credit requirement, estimated processing time and welcome-credit availability for the selected result language. The estimate is not a guaranteed deadline. The beta is free, but an order still needs sufficient credits and open ordering. A welcome gift may not cover your book, and buying credits is unavailable. If the daily gift allocation is exhausted, follow the next-availability information shown in the app rather than submitting repeated orders.

After analysis and choosing the summary language, request a personal preview from your file. It contains a book map, 3–5 ideas and a developed content segment, not necessarily the first chapter or a complete author-written chapter. Check it against your edition before deciding on the full summary. Follow the displayed status: processing, review, an error or a limit does not mean that a preview is ready. Availability is subject to the limits shown in the app; do not assume instant results or unlimited retries.

The public examples are separate samples, not a preview of your file or a guarantee of the same quality. Before confirming the full summary order, check the selected language and credit requirement again.

5. Check the result against your edition

When the order is complete, read the summary in the app. First compare its contents with the beginning, middle and end of the book. Pick one central argument: does the summary preserve the author’s conclusion, qualifications and counterexamples, or turn a cautious claim into a rule?

Check important quotations word for word in the original. Distinguish an original quotation from its translation, which may introduce interpretation. If a page reference seems wrong, check whether your PDF viewer counts cover pages while the printed edition starts numbering later. Do not cite a quotation elsewhere until you have located it in your edition.

Download Markdown if you want a local text copy. PDF export and regeneration are not available in this beta. You can rate the displayed result; a rating does not start another generation. AI may omit context, misunderstand an argument or produce a misleading translation. Use the summary as a reading aid, not as the sole basis for medical, legal or financial decisions.

6. If the path stops

For a rejected file, read the reason and use a suitable text PDF; repeatedly uploading the same scan will not create a text layer. During processing, follow the existing order’s status. If a connection fails, check that order before starting again. An incomplete or failed state is not a completed summary. Contact support when the displayed explanation does not resolve the issue; never send a login link or password. Do not attach your whole book to an unsolicited support email.

Keep your edition as the source of truth. A clear summary is a starting point for checking the book, not proof that the AI understood everything.
